Children's Ministries
The purpose of our Children's Ministry is to: "partner with parents in helping each child develop a loving relationship with God through Jesus. This will be accomplished primarily through biblical instruction and loving, godly leaders who direct the children's minds, hearts, and behavior to Him. Our children should encounter church as a safe, loving and enjoyable experience."
Our well-staffed and equipped Nursery (infants to age 2), Little Lambs' Worship (for ages 3 and 4 during the morning sermon), KidsQuest (for ages 5-10 during the morning sermon), and Sunday Evening Clubs balance these goals, each with a slightly different emphasis. There are also special occasions for children to participate in choir and drama throughout the year. We also offer “Family Fun Nights” which are an opportunity for children and their friends and family to gather to participate in games, picnics, fun and fellowship. A yearly highlight is our Summer Adventure Week held the third week in July, each evening from 6:15 to 8:15. This is a fun-filled experience that seeks to reach out to the children of our community and share the good news of Jesus Christ with all who come. Our Annual Community Carnival is held the Saturday following Summer Adventure Week and is a time for kids aged 0 – 100 to come out and enjoy free food, games, prizes and fellowship.
Clubs meet six months during the year. It is a great opportunity for kids to hear Bible stories in a creative, exciting way, play games, meet new (and old) friends, learn new skills and be cared for by many dedicated adults. Children are encouraged to bring friends to this awesome adventure.
We had a great time at this year's Summer Adventure Week, "SONSURF BEACH BASH", June 26-30! We had 60 volunteers and an average of 115 children learn about cool sea creatures like clownfish, dolphins, and sea turtles. They learned the answers to Big Questions about Jesus: Who is Jesus? Can I trust Jesus? Why do I need Jesus? How can Jesus help me when I mess up? What does Jesus want me to do? The children also riased money to support the Mennonite Central Committee's work in Tanzania to build sand dams to collect clean water. The goal was to raise $500, which would provide enough money for the tools, equipment, and supplies to build one sand dam. However, the children exceeded their goal by raising $645.64! Check out this spot next spring for new on our 2012 Summer Adventure Week. You won't want to miss it!
