Mexico Trip - 2007
Local Outreach
Outreach.jpgWe seek to communicate the love and truth of Jesus Christ to our community and world. Our local outreach team focuses on strategies to communicate the gospel to people in our local communities.

  • Community Carnival (Summer)
Every summer we hold a FREE community carnival on a Saturday afternoon in July.

  • Christmas Outreach (December)
We host a special community Christmas Eve candlelight service.
Social Concerns
Our Social Concerns Ministry initiates and supports service to those with social and physical needs in our area. We support such ministries as:
  • New Hope Ministries (a Christian social services agency to the Dillsburg area)

  • King's Kids' Camp (a Dillsburg summer camp for at-risk children and youth)

  • York Rescue Mission (which preaches the gospel and shares it tangibly through feeding, housing and training men and women in need)

  • Cumberland Vista (a home for special needs adults located on our property and managed by C.R.O.S.S. Ministries)

  • Capital Area Pregnancy Centers (a pro-life ministry to women and their children)

  • Paxton Ministries (an adult BIC home in Harrisburg for mentally ill adults).

  • Every year we participate in the Mennonite Central Committee grocery bag drive to feed people in local needed areas and we respond to national and international crises as well. Two web sites that we recommend are www.mcc.org and www.thehungersite.org. These organizations fight hunger, and help with disaster relief day to day.

  • We encourage everyone to become familiar with and shop at "Ten Thousand Villages," (beside Brother's Restaurant on Rt. 15) a store that benifits artisans from underdevelped countries. Shopping here cuts out the "middle man" and gives more money to the artisans who desparately need it.

  • Every year (in Feb.), we will be focusing on our youth participating in the "30 Hour Famine." This is a nation wide movement used to raise awareness and money for people who are starving. This year we will also be calling attention to an ongoing crisis in Uganda that targets children, abducting them, and forcing them to become soldiers with a violent group calling themselves "The Lord's Resistance Army." We will help by raising funds to assist in the building of guarded shelters for children and women to stay in at night.
Missions
SWAP 2005 Team Downsized.JPGAt least every other year our missions team coordinates summer mission opportunities like work teams to West Virginia (with SWAP) or to Venezuela and Nicaragua (in connections with BIC World Missions). We hold an annual Missions Sunday with a guest missionary or speaker. And we regularly, both financially and prayerfully, support three missionary couples (see below.)
