Our Ministry Structure
The church is lead spiritually by a Board of Elders who give particular attention to the ministries of spiritual nurturing, leading/ruling, protecting and equipping. The elders are accountable to Christ and his Word (1 Pet. 5:2) and then to one another. They are recommended to the church by the Nominating Committee and are confirmed by the members of the church for three-year terms.
The Senior Pastor is one of the elders and provides leadership to the Board of Elders. He is also accountable to them as he teaches God's Word to the congregation, oversees the day-to-day life of the church, and communicates the elders' discernments and vision to the church.
The following are the 8 spheres of our Ministry Structure:
-
Sunday Morning Worship - From 10:00 to 11:30 am our goal is worship - to behold God's revelation of himself and his will, and to respond in humility and love to it.
-
Discipleship Ministries - Christians, by definition, are disciples of Jesus. So we seek to structure ourselves to provide opportunities to follow him more fully and faithfully.
-
Children's Ministries - The purpose of our Children's Ministry is to partner with parents in helping each child develop a loving relationship with God through Jesus. This will be accomplished primarily through biblical instruction and loving, godly leaders who direct the children's minds, hearts, and behavior to Him. Our children should encounter church as a safe, loving and enjoyable experience.
-
Youth Ministries - The youth ministry at CVC is called "Undivided," alluding to our unity in Christ. Our Youth Pastor, Jeff Miller, oversees this relational ministry.
-
Administrative Ministries ("A-Team") - This ministry, whose members are appointed by the church, manages the church's budget, finances and property assets. It is composed of a Stewardship Director who oversees this ministry, the Treasurer, the Director of Buildings and Grounds, and several support members.
-
Outreach Ministries - We seek to communicate the love and truth of Jesus Christ to our community and world through meeting people's physical, social and spiritual needs.
-
Caring Ministries - Our deacons oversee the physical, tangible needs of people in our congregation. This includes financial needs, visiting the sick, providing meals when needed, assisting with job searches, providing financial counseling, and coordinating any home repair needs.
-
Social Events Ministries - This Team brings people together in social events that encourage the development of friendships, love and unity in the church. To this goal they sponsor church dinners, refreshments, picnics, special social events and recreational opportunities for the church like bowling nights, game nights, day-trips, canoeing trips, etc..
